Eating addiction

Many therapeutic disciplines are based on the assumption that an eating addiction is related to emotional problems and that the eating addiction refers to the eating away of the problems.

According to the views of LTA Personal Development, this only applies to part of the people suffering from an eating addiction.
The cause of the eating addiction is in many cases the result of unconscious programmings forcing the person to eat. The person suffering from the eating addiction, has a constant tendency to eat, or has a tendency to eat at particular moments of the day, without any problem being involved. Whether or not in combination with food cravings in case of problems.

These programmings or patterns are surrounding a person, from the day he/she is born. These patterns are active or resting. If a pattern dictating: ‘you must eat’, is active, the person will have a continuous tendency to eat.
.

Examples of patterns are

• ‘you must eat’
• ‘a constant craving for food’
• ‘if you are feeling sad, you will eat, + the kind of food (eg. chocolate)’
• ‘you eat, you eat, you are feeling miserable and you eat, until you cannot eat any more, and then you feel better’
• ‘if things are going bad, food will help you’
• ‘your weight is going up and down, then you are fat, then you are slim’, this activates other patterns, that will make a person grab for food at some times, and will make him eat very little at other times
• ‘always thinking of food, food is always in your mind, you cannot let it go, you always think of food, food, food, food, there is nothing but food, you must eat, you cannot get away from food’

By means of LTA Personal Development, we destroy the patterns causing the eating addiction or other eating disorders. Once the patterns are entirely broken, the complaints are eliminated for ever, and the person concerned will be able to enjoy food in a normal way.
Patterns of an eating compulsion are not the most simple patterns to destroy. They are located deeper in the subconscious mind than personality patterns. If an eating addiction is exclusively linked to an uncomfortable feeling, it can be easier. Because in most cases it is easy to break patterns that cause negative feelings. And then the patterns causing food cravings, are not activated any more (this does not mean that they are already peeled off, they are just resting).
.

Patterns causing bulimia (the two examples of patterns that are described below, are a few of the patterns of a man suffering from an extremely serious form of bulimia, there are dozens of variations of patterns that can be found in his subconscious mind):

• A pattern dictating the amount of food that must be taken in (extremely large quantities), and then the food múst come out again + an image of someone vomiting in order to get all the food out again.
(The purpose of this pattern is that the person would eat like that; there is no other reason contained in the pattern.)

• ‘you must be punished, you will suffer’, this activates another pattern: ‘you will eat continuously, you will live to eat, your life consists of eating, there is nothing else, and then you will vomit, and afterwards you will eat again, you will live to eat, you must be punished, and then you will vomit, and you will eat again …’

The same person who is suffering from bulimia, also shows patterns of anorexia. Due to these patterns and the bulimia problem, he is very skinny.
.

Patterns of anorexia

• ‘you cannot exceed weight X, (eg. 56 kg for 1.85 metres), you must keep below that weight + an image of someone with a very skinny body’
• ‘a fear of exceeding weight Y, watching the weight very carefully, if there has been gained a gram, refusing to eat in order to regain the ideal weight, feeling miserable with the idea that his body might show one excessive gram of fat’
• ‘you must pay attention to what you eat, you must count the calories (aiming to maintain a target weight)’
• A pattern with an image of a very skinny person, and comprising the idea that this is the ideal body shape.
• ‘you must be skinny, you must feel miserable, you cannot have any energy, you cannot have any muscles, you must suffer, you must be punished’
