Self injury

People who suffer from self-injury, find themselves in a dead-end situation. But it can be remedied.

A person cutting himself or hurting himself in any other way, is acting like that because he is at odds with himself. The self-injury then shifts attention from the feelings of pain to physical pain. Which is more bearable and is experienced as a relief.

There are a lot of reasons for self-injury and one person’s reasons and methods are more dramatic than those of another one.
Whatever may be the reason, in the subconscious mind there is a programming or a ‘pattern’ dictating the self-injury. The pattern suggests that in case of emotions of intense pain, it is good to injure oneself. Or the pattern compels the person to cut himself. A person feels compelled to burn himself with a cigarette. The relief that is felt by the person as a result, is also contained in the pattern.
This means that a person turns to self-injury, because it is established in an unconscious programming that this is the right way to handle.

By means of LTA Personal Development, we break down the patterns forcing the person into self-injury. As a result the self-injury completely disappears. During the treatment, also all other patterns causing painful situations and feelings, are destroyed.
The result is a person who is climbing out of his miserable situation, who is feeling happy, and who will not injure himself anymore.

This result can always be achieved. The rate of achievement, however, may vary a lot from one person to another.

An example of a pattern causing self-injury with a psychiatric patient: ‘Feeling miserable, feeling as if nobody loves me, feeling overwhelmed by an emptiness. Being absorbed by that emptiness, disappearing in that emptiness. This is an unbearable feeling that is getting harder and harder to sustain and that is reaching the point of maximum unbearability. Then there is the feeling of being completely soaked up into the emptiness, the feeling that you will disappear in the emptiness, the feeling that you will cease to exist. An enormous fear and panic for that. And then there is the solution, the impulse of cutting yourself, and that impulse as such already brings relief. There is hope and the emptiness is opening up, there is an opening in the emptiness and the chance to escape. The person starts cutting himself and the opening in the emptiness becomes bigger and bigger, there is an enormous relief that is felt together with the pain, but the pain is distant, something that is vaguely present. The feeling of relief and joy for the emptiness that is opening up, is overwhelming, the person sees the first signs of blood and is flooded with the feeling of freedom. The built-up tension and the miserable feelings disappear, the person feels free, happy, seeing the blood makes him feel intensely happy. What is left is a feeling of being freed from the emptiness, of having escaped from being absorbed into the emptiness and disappearing in the emptiness.’
